Desiree Egyptian Dancing Horse

The Great Desiree, or 'Dessie' as she is known to her friends, is an authentic Egyptian 'dancing' horse.  Desiree is sometimes referred to as a pantomime horse, this apparently is incorrect, and she may either laugh, or kick you, depending on her mood.

Desiree arrived in the UK some years ago with Egyptian dancer and teacher, Shalaby, who was appearing at JOY.  Shalaby landed in Newcastle with Desiree, who quite fancied a new home in the UK.  Kay Taylor was rather surprised when they arrived at Farida Dance and Shalaby announced he had a horse for sale - who on earth would take on a giant dancing pantomime (whoops sorry Dessie) horse?  Well the very person happened to be at Farida Dance - Her  Royal Hellness Lucretia aka Christine Emery - well known animal lover and rescuer of 4 legged friends and fiends.

Desiree has since starred at many top belly dance events in the country including Fantasia, Raqs Britannia and Bellydance Congress, where she appeared on the same stage as the great Fifi Abdou - although not quite at the same time it has to be said.  She has even gone international - dancing at Rakassa in San Francisco with JimBoz.  She is also a film star, appearing in the trailer as well as the actual film of 'Goth Cruise The Movie' which has been shown at cinemas around the UK and in the USA.

Desiree is sometimes available for hire, but of course she needs at least one human with her - she doesn't travel alone - Dahlinks!  Desiree will also sometimes do free appearances for animal charities, if you want to book her contact Farida Dance or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ,  Dessie is a great addition to festivals, fetes and carnivals, with or without attendant belly dancers.

Likes: Dancing, prancing, nibbling floral arrangements and large hats, sipping cool drinks as she circulates around tables at events, and meeting her fans.

Loves: Being adored

Dislikes: Anyone who is unkind to animals, or pulls her tail - beware.
