This adventure is designed for those that want to study dance in Cairo and take dance classes with professional dancers working there.

You are unlikely to benefit unless you are of Intermediate / Advanced level.  If you are not sure, call me or e-mail me and ask.

Each dancer has their own style so you can develop aspects of your own dancing with that special Cairo accent.  Some dancers are better performers than teachers but you can still get an awful lot out of a class.  If there is someone in particular that you want to study with, let us know in advance and we will try to arrange it.  Also if you want any private lessons with teachers, this can be arranged at additional cost.

The group in December 03 had 4 hours with Raqia, 4 hours with Aida and a 2 hour class with Dina!  This was quite a coup as she has not been dancing for nearly a year.  Dina is a very good teacher and worked with step patterns as opposed to a piece of choreography.  (There was a supplement for the Dina class as she is more expensive than most teachers).  In April 06 the group had the following classes:  Dina, Raqia Hassan, Khazafy, Dandesh & Randa. 

The dance course consists of:

·         10 hours of dance classes in a dance studio.

·         1 class will be with musician.

·         Video session.

·         Discussions with professional dancers in Cairo.

·         Talk / class with Emad el Rashidy & Sara Farouk - musicality & interpretation.

·         Party night with band (this is dependant on numbers - if too few to have a party, it will be replaced by a night out with dinner to see a dancer).

Also included:

·         Visit to 'seedy club' downtown if you have the energy.

·         Visits to costumiers - as many as you want / have time for.

·         Visit Khan el Khalili & Mahmouds

·         Transfers from and to airport.

·         6 nights B&B in 3+ star hotel in Downtown Cairo.

Also, unique to this trip - the opportunity to be 'sugared'.  The equivalent of waxing, Egyptian style.  Om Mohamed has been between more women's legs than Omar Sherif!  We make a girly night of it, Om Mohamed comes to the hotel & we get some food & drink in for the evening.
