Sayed Amar began his
training as a folkloric dancer before going on to specialise in the
Tannoura or whirling dervish dance, the performance form of an ancient
sufi tradition. Sayed joined Fer'et el Negoum in Oct 04 and was
one of the group who came on the Farha Tour in March 05.
Sayed can be seen on the
Nile Pharon in Cairo where he works as part of Fer'et el Negoum with various dancers. His show is
both mesmerising yet entertaining with some audience participation.
We were entertained at
Sayed’s love of pizza. Every meal, when given a choice, he had pizza.
He gained the nickname ‘Sayed Pizza’. We decided his love for this
style of food was due to the similarity between the Tannoura skirts &
pizza.
Sayed is often a guest at
Kay’s party nights in
Cairo. He
likes to surprise the girls with new acts – his last being two men
fighting. He was both men! How did he do that?
